Visiting South Africa and Victoria Falls, our experts have hand-selected destinations and lodges which offer families extra perks during their stay. Your time in South Africa will be spent in Cape Town, Franschhoek, the Garden Route and end with a family-friendly safari in Pilanesberg Game Reserve. Your journey continues on the Zimbabwean side of the Victoria Falls for a memorable end to your African family vacation.
Radisson Red Hotel has partnered with the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA) and has a Green Key status in hospitality.Le Franschhoek Hotel & Spa supports energy-saving and water-saving practices. The property has its own waste management program and aims to minimize its carbon footprint.
Knysna Hollow Country Estate uses LED bulbs throughout the guest rooms and communal areas. All cleaning products used are SABS approved and environmentally safe. Borehole and rainwater are used for garden irrigation. Glass and tin is recycled. All of the hot water is supplied by means of heat pumps. Nespresso pods are recycled. Batteries and inverter are used as back-up power instead of diesel generators. No plastic straws are supplied on the property, only paper straws. No single-use plastic bottles are used for guest amenities.
Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge boasts a Gold status on the Heritage Environmental Management Program.
Radisson Red Hotel accommodates families in their Studio Suites which features a bunk bed for the little ones.
Le Franschhoek Hotel & Spa accommodates families in their Standard Family Room which sleeps four. Your little ones will sleep in the cozy loft kitted with 2 single beds. Children aged 0-11 stay free. Babysitting services available by prior arrangement.
Knysna Hollow Country Estate welcomes children of all ages in their Garden Suite and kids under 12-years stay free of charge, including breakfast. Babysitting service is available at R100 per hour.
Tsitsikamma Village Inn welcomes children of all ages and offers a variety of exciting activities on and around the property.
Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge features a designated play area for children called the Kwa Baneng Playground. Other fun activities on the property include bush putt-putt, tennis courts, and a wildlife centre. Children aged 12-years and younger receive free meals and 1 complimentary game drive.
The Kingdom Hotel features 34 family rooms kitted with a king-size bed and bunk beds for the little ones. Children aged 3 – 11 only pay 50% of the meal rate, while infants aged 0-2 years have no meal charge. The property features a toddler splash pool.
Day 1 - 4
Cape Town, Radisson Red Hotel
Your African family safari starts on arrival at Cape Town International Airport. A Jumbari Family Safaris representative will await your arrival and transfer your family to the Radisson Red Hotel located in the heart of Cape Town. The family-friendly hotel is located within walking distance to the famous V&A Waterfront which is an entertainment hub for children and adults alike. Your 4 days in Cape Town will include a Cape Town City Tour which includes a visit to the Planetarium and the Two Oceans Aquarium – bound to be a highlight for the little ones! For your last evening in Cape Town, your family will be treated to sunset drinks on Signal Hill, a popular viewing point with spectacular views of the city and the Atlantic Ocean.
Day 4 - 6
Cape Winelands, Le Franschhoek Hotel & Spa
On the fourth day, your family will be transferred from Cape Town to the Cape Winelands where you will check into your Standard Family Room at Le Franschhoek Hotel and Spa. Your family will spend the next three days exploring the surrounding wine farms, museums and towns, alternatively your kids can enjoy the on-site tennis courts and enticing swimming pool. While the little ones play to their heart’s content under the care of an expert babysitter, you can indulge at The Camelot Spa. The surrounding area offers a range of exciting activities such as horse-riding, hiking trails, a wine tram tour, golfing and fly-fishing which can be arranged by your Jumbari travel expert.
Day 6 - 8
Garden Route, Knysna Hollow
After breakfast, your family will be transferred to Cape Town International Airport for your flight to George Airport, located along the Garden Route. On arrival, a Jumbari representative will collect you for your transfer to Knysna. Arrive at Knysna Hollow Country Estate and make yourself at home in your Family Garden Suite. Time at leisure can be spent exploring the lush, indigenous gardens with your family, enjoying one of two swimming pools on the property, playing a game of Boule on the Boule Court or exploring by bicycle (available to rent at reception). Other activities on offer in the area include canoeing, dolphin watching, a visit to the Monkeyland Sanctuary or Birds of Eden, Ferry boat rides or abseiling.
Day 8 - 9
Storms River Village, Tsitsikamma Village Inn
After breakfast, meet your driver for your transfer to Storms River Village where you will spend one night at the Tsitsikamma Village Inn. The location of the lodge is ideal for a visit to Storms River Mouth in the Tsitsikamma National Park. Enjoy dinner at the iconic Marilyn’s 60’s Diner, an experiential restaurant that will transport you to the world of Elvis Presley, James Dean and Marilyn Monroe. Outdoor activities to enjoy during your stay include hiking, mountain biking, kayaking or tree-top canopy tours.
Day 9 - 12
Pilanesberg Game Reserve, Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge
Today marks the start of your family-friendly safari in South Africa! After breakfast, meet your driver for your transfer to Port Elizabeth Airport. Here, your family will board your flight to Johannesburg O.R Tambo International Airport and continue your journey by road to Pilanesberg Game Reserve. Check-in at Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge and unwind in your Family Room. The next three days will be filled with evening game drives, excursions to the unique hide which overlooks a watering hole, bush boma dinners, stargazing and bush walks. The safari lodge also features an outdoor chessboard, table tennis facilities, bush putt-putt course, a rock-climbing wall and a slide pool to be enjoyed by the little ones. Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge also runs a special Junior Ranger programme catering to the inquisitive minds of children which educated them on wildlife and the environment through interactive activities and games.

Day 12 - 14
Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe), The Kingdom Hotel, BB
After breakfast, prepare for your onward journey to Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls. Your driver will transfer you to Johannesburg for your scheduled flight to Victoria Falls Airport. On arrival, a Jumbari representative will welcome and transfer your family to The Kingdom Hotel. The highlight of your stay will be a tour of Victoria Falls, one of Africa’s Natural Wonders. Time at leisure can be spent at the hotel swimming pool, restaurants or spa. If your family would like to add some more adventure to their time in Victoria Falls, any last-minute excursions can be booked at the onsite Adventure Centre.

Today marks the end of your safari in South Africa and Zimbabwe. After breakfast, check-out and meet your driver for your transfer to Victoria Falls Airport. Here, board your Johannesburg bound flight to connect to your international flight home.
