Day 1 - 2
Desert Hills Lodge, Sossusvlei, Namibia
Your Namibia Road Trip starts on arrival at Windhoek’s International Hosea Kutako Airport where a Jumbari Family Safari representative will meet you and provide you with everything you will need for your self-drive holiday. The first stop of your journey takes you to the Sossusvlei region in the Namib Desert. We recommend stopping in Solitaire to stretch your legs, enjoy a cup of coffee and savour the renowned apple crumble pie from Moose McGregor’s Desert Bakery or check out Sesriem Canyon – a nearby geological attraction. Your base for the next two nights is Desert Hills Lodge. Located in the Naukluft mountains, you can spend your days exploring the nearby Namib Naukluft Park – home to Sossusvlei, Deadvlei and some of the highest sand dunes in the world.
Day 3 - 4
The Delight Hotel, Swakopmund, Namibia
4 hours 30 minutes
Today, you will make your way to Swakopmund through the ever changing desert landscapes. You will meet the coast at Walvis Bay where you can visit the lagoon to see an array of birdlife from flamingos to pelicans before continuing north to your final destination. Check-in at The Delight Hotel in Swakopmund before exploring the coastal town’s charming boutiques, restaurants, museums and galleries. Feeling adventurous? You and your family can join a morning dolphin catamaran cruise or kayaking excursion, or explore the desert on a guided tour.
Day 5 - 6
Camp Kipwe, Damaraland, Namibia
Your Namibia Road Trip continues to Damaraland today. En route you will pass Namibia’s highest mountain – the Brandberg, and enjoy game viewing along the way. Damaraland is characterised by its unique rock formations and vast wilderness. Your base for the next two nights is Camp Kipwe, a luxurious lodge nestled amongst giant granite boulders. On arrival at Camp Kipwe, you can join an afternoon activity and visit the nearby prehistoric Twyfelfontein rock engravings – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or relax by the lodge’s swimming pool overlooking the valley. You and your family can enjoy guided game drives through Aba Huab River valley in search of desert adapted elephants and other wildlife.
Okaukuejo, Etosha National Park, Nambia
3 hours 30 minutes
After a refreshing breakfast at Camp Kipwe, you and your family will make your way to Okaukuejo Camp in southern Etosha National Park. The Camp is located only 17km from the Anderson gate and features a restaurant, bar and swimming pool – the perfect spot to cool off after a day on the road. After your arrival, you can spend the day at leisure or explore the park in your vehicle in search of Etosha’s unique wildlife including elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and cheetah. In the evening, sit back and witness the safari experience unfold as flood lights illuminate the camp’s waterhole where wildlife congregate to quench their thirst.
Day 8 - 9
Mushara Bush Camp, Etosha National Park, Namibia
Your Namibia Road Trip continues in Etosha National Park where you will make your way from the south to Halali for a lunch stop and then across to the Von Lindquist gate in the east. Enroute you will drive past a number of waterholes which are particularly good for game viewing. Your base for the next two nights is Mushara Bush Camp – an authentic tented camp offering 16 spacious ensuite tents surrounded by Namibia’s wilderness. You and your family can explore the park in your hired vehicle on a self drive safari and return to the camp in time for dinner around the campfire.
