Belmond Mount Nelson is dedicated to reducing its impact on the environment. The hotel has implemented several water and energy saving initiatives including energy-saving light bulbs and energy-saving heat pumps. The estate uses spring water to irrigate the gardens and has an on-site worm farm which turns organic matter into compost to fertilise the gardens. Belmond Mount Nelson implements a recycling programme and uses environmentally friendly cleaning products. Invested in community upliftment, the hotel supports local school and offers training and skills development programmes. The hotel uses locally sourced herbs and buys organic vegetables from the township community farmers.
Tongabezi Lodge is eco-friendly and has an in-house bottling system which eradicates the use of up to 20,000 water bottles and 2,000 tin cans per year. The lodge features an organic vegetable garden and meals are prepared daily with fresh ingredients from the garden. Tongabezi Lodge is involved in a number of community projects and provides education to the Tongabezi staff children from the local community.
Camp Jabulani is a low impact safari lodge constructed from recycled and natural materials. The lodge offers a number of sustainable tourism initiatives and gives direct access to the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre.
