Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge is located on the oldest nature reserve in Africa, Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park. The park sits about 230 kilometres north-east of Durban and it will take you approximately 3-hours by road to reach the park from King Shaka International Airport in Durban.

Being perfectly positioned on a ridge overlooking the park below, the lodge offers 180-degree views of the 96,000 hectare park and its wildlife below. During our stay giraffe, buffalo and impalas were spotted daily.
Families staying at Rhino Ridge Safari lodge are accommodated in one of two Safari Family Rooms. This is a great option for families of 4 traveling together. The Family Room comprises of two en-suite bedrooms which are joined by an entrance hall. Each bedroom has its own private viewing deck and is kitted out with air-conditioning, overhead fan, mini-bar, and a tea and coffee making station. The Safari Family Rooms connect to the main lodge area by gravel footpaths. The lodge features a communal infinity swimming pool which is the perfect place to spend time at leisure with your family.
Good to know: At night, your dedicated escort will accompany you to your safari room to light the way.
Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge is Fairtrade Accredited and has gone the extra mile to ensure that the lodge promotes eco-friendly practices. On arrival at the lodge, each member of your family will be gifted with a reusable water bottle to be used for the duration of your stay – an initiative to promote a plastic-free lodge. Look out for eco-friendly tips promoted throughout the lodge – from 100% biodegradable “napkins” provided in the bathrooms, suggestions on how to reduce water consumption during your stay and their “Last Straw” initiative which discourages single-use plastic. The entire lodge is solar-powered and although each room is equipped with air-conditioning, the lodge encourages the use of the overhead fans as opposed to the air-conditioners.
While parents will be treated to a 5-star dining experience, the little ones will have their own kiddies menu to choose from during their stay. Dinners can be served at any time suitable for your children and childminding services are available should adults prefer to take their time over dinner.
Good to know: Are you a vegetarian or lactose intolerant? Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge accommodates any dietary requirements and the chefs will prepare dishes which are compliant with your diet on request.
Your family can expect a well-rounded safari experience in Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park. White rhino sightings are so-to-say guaranteed as the park is densely populated by this member of the Big 5. During our two-day stay at Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge we spotted 4 members of the Big Five including lion, buffalo, elephant, as well as black and white rhino. Two game drives depart the lodge daily, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, each approximately 3 hours. Depending on the age of your children, game drives can be shortened to suit your family’s needs.
Good to know: Children 6 years and older are welcome on game drives.
