Green travel in collaboration with Greenpop

Jumbari Joins The TREEvolution

Green travel is a term typically used to describe travel that adheres to responsible practices, paying attention to the environmental, social and economic impact on the earth. It’s all about giving back, and being conscious of our role in the greater scheme of things – from empowering local communities through education and awareness, to conserving the wildlife that inhabit the planet alongside us, and actually getting our hands down into the dirt and doing something about it.

Introducing the much-beloved tree.

It is no secret that trees, in general, just make life better. They have a positive impact on our mental health and well-being, reduce stress and make the world a far more beautiful place. Equally importantly, trees contribute massively to the environment by providing us with the very oxygen we breathe, conserving water, preserving soil, and supporting wildlife. Both above and below the ground, these tall primeval marvels of nature are absolutely essential to the eco-systems in which they reside.

True to our ethos of pioneering sustainable, green travel holidays for families to Africa, we have partnered with a leading not-for-profit organization that puts trees and the environment at the forefront of their endeavours: Greenpop.

About Greenpop

Striving to create a world where people and nature thrive in harmony, Greenpop began in 2010 with one simple goal: to plant 1,000 trees in one month. Based in Cape Town, the award-winning registered NPO was founded by social activist and environmentalist, Misha Teasdale alongside partner Lauren Teasdale and friend Jeremy Hewitt. Today, Greenpop has planted over 132,000 trees and inspired over 132,000 active citizens across South Africa, Zambia Malawi and Tanzania. Greenpop also hosts a range of environmental education, reforestation and urban tree planting projects across Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as green festivals that aim to restore ecosystems, empower environmental stewards, popularise conservation and make it fun!

Pioneering eco-tourism into Africa, we understand the massive problem Africa faces as the world’s most rapidly urbanising continent. Recent studies reveal that between the years 2000 and 2030, the urban population in Africa will more than double, with urban space increasing by more than 700%! As this happens, more and more ecosystems and the essential natural assets that they provide will come under threat. It is more important now than ever to work together to protect these natural spaces – it is only by conserving and restoring these threatened ecosystems that we can ensure a sustainable future.

Our Goals

Together, we aim to not only create awareness and, of course, plant thousands or trees with our valued clients, we also endeavour to lessen the carbon footprint that travel has on the environment. We want to create green travel holidays for families that reduce your carbon footprint by giving back to the destinations you visit. We want to unite with you to continue our efforts to restore ecosystems across Sub-Saharan Africa.

We encourage our clients, old and new, to band together with us on this important green travel initiative that will leave a positive, lasting impact on Africa. Book a trip to one of our green travel destinations today by getting in touch with one of our expert travel consultants, who will ensure that the only footprints you leave behind, are in the rich sands of the land.
